BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – As fall progresses, more than a million winter weather lovers await the day the iconic Breckenridge Ski Resort opens for the season.
As millions of Americans ease into fall, temperatures steadily drop day by day, inching closer to the opening of ski resorts around the country.
Last year, the resort opened on Nov. 7, and officials plan to open it one day earlier for the 2026 season.
This comes as the 2025-26 ski season was one of the warmest and least snowy in decades, leading to a drop in visitors of about 24%.
As a result, the resort may open later than anticipated, as prediction markets at Kalshi break down the chances of the date being pushed back.
Traders at Kalshi predict a 95% chance the resort will open before Nov. 15.
They also predict a 66% chance it will open before Nov. 8, which would be ideal for snowboarders and skiers traveling to the destination.
As fall continues and temperatures decrease, the odds will certainly change.
