Wendy Williams Makes Desperate Plea During Rare Sighting

Wendy Williams made a desperate plea to be freed from her years-long guardianship as she was spotted in New York City for the first time in months. When asked by paparazzi what she has been going through, Williams, 62, replied, “I want out!” Video footage shows a male companion carrying shopping bags and leading Williams into a building. The former “Wendy Williams Show” host, who was last seen publicly in February, was placed under financial guardianship in May 2022 after her bank, Wells Fargo, told a New York court that she was an “incapacitated person” and a “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.” She was later diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which causes changes in behavior, personality, language, and movement. She has remained under the conservatorship ever since. Sabrina E. Morrissey, a New York attorney, is her legal guardian. Williams’ lawyer Joe Tacopina has argued that she does not have the brain disorder, claiming a New York City neurologist who specializes in Alzheimer’s disease disagreed with her diagnosis. When first placed under the guardianship, Williams told Good Morning America, “They say that I need somebody to handle my accounts, and I don’t want that. I want all my money.”
