The New York Police Department (NYPD) released dramatic body camera footage on Sunday showing an officer heroically rescuing a woman who was drowning in a creek in Queens.

Officials said the NYPD Harbor Unit responded to a 911 call reporting that a woman had fallen into Newtown Creek.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the woman clinging to a wooden piling as she struggled to stay afloat.

The video shows officers attempting to rescue her from their boat, but they were unable to move any closer because of the pilings that surrounded her in the water.
Seconds later, one of the officers threw a life-saving flotation device at the woman. Without hesitation, the officer jumped into the murky water and swam to her.
Using the flotation device, the officer pulled the woman back to the boat, where another officer helped lift her aboard.

The woman is then seen receiving medical assistance before being placed on a stretcher.
