Trump Reveals Why He Wants to Pave Over the White House Rose Garden

President Donald Trump is remaking the government, and the White House along with it. The president told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Wednesday that he was getting the Rose Garden paved over so guests won’t have to step on wet grass. “What was happening is, it’s supposed to have events. Every event you have, it’s soaking wet,” Trump said. “People can’t—and the women with the high heels, it’s just too much.” The Fox anchor toured the White House with the president on a segment of The Laura Ingraham Show. “The grass just, it doesn’t work,” Trump went on. “We use it for press conferences and it doesn’t work because the people fall into the wet grass.” The president said everything else in the garden would stay as it is: “I think it’s gonna be more beautiful. It’s a great place.” Since he returned to power, Trump has bathed the Oval Office in gold. The tour showed several gold items, including a hefty paperweight with Trump’s name and a World Cup trophy. The president also unveiled a display of the Declaration of Independence this week, framed in his signature gold.
