Ontario Premier Doug Ford fired away at President Donald Trump over his erratic trade policy toward Canada, saying Ronald Reagan would be “throwing up” over the whole spectacle.
The U.S. and Canada entered trade negotiations last month, as Canada tried to reach an agreement to reverse or at least reduce Trump’s tariffs on Canadian goods. But over the weekend, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said those negotiations had collapsed due to unreasonable demands from the U.S., and said that his country would have to rethink its overall relationship with the U.S.
Ford’s comments also come as Trump has repeatedly threatened for months to annex Canada, calling it the 51st state and insulting its leaders.
