The government website reproductiverights.gov, a key resource for women seeking information about reproductive health and abortion rights, was seemingly taken down just hours after President Donald Trump assumed office. The site, launched in 2022 by the Department of Health and Human Services as part of a public awareness campaign, offered a Know-Your-Rights fact sheet and detailed guidance on accessing abortion care. As of January 15, the Wayback Machine showed the site was still active. However, attempts to access it now yield a “site can’t be reached” error. Author Erica Chidi highlighted the removal on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Only a few hours after taking office, this administration removed reproductiverights.gov—a critical resource that helped women access health care and understand their rights.“ The site’s removal may be linked to an executive order titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” one of several controversial actions Trump has enacted, including shutting down the CBP One app and Spanish-language White House platforms.
