The new “Siren’s Curse” roller coaster at a popular U.S. theme park has suffered a third technical setback since its debut last month. Cedar Point has heralded the roller coaster, which is housed in Sandusky, Ohio, as the “tallest, fastest and longest ‘tilt’ roller coaster in North America.” The attraction disconnects riders from one track to another for a 160-foot vertical drop at a 45-degree angle. Yet onlookers were left horrified on Saturday, July 19 as the ride seemed to stall mid-air as it disconnected from its first track, leaving passengers dangling for around 20 minutes, Peoplereported. “The coaster’s safety system performed as designed, the ride was restarted, and guests continued their ride. It reopened shortly after and all guests exited the ride safely,” Cedar Point spokesperson Tony Clark told the Akron Beacon Journal, yet it was the third time the ride has been stopped. On its opening day, riders were stuck for nearly 10 minutes in the tilt position. In another incident, riders had to climb down from the roller coaster using a safety exit. The Daily Beast has contacted Cedar Point for comment on how recent malfunctions could affect the ride’s availability in the park.
