A Boulder elementary school is on secure status Tuesday as deputies investigate reports of shots fired in the area, sheriff’s officials said.
Gunshots were heard around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near North 75th Street and Baseline Road, just down the street from Douglass Elementary School, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said the school is on secure status while deputies investigate, but the students are safe.
“Please do not come to the school until the situation is resolved,” Boulder Valley School District officials said in an alert.
While the school is on secure status, all doors are locked and no one may enter or leave the building, according to the alert. Students involved in outside activities are brought indoors but classes continue as normal.
