Prime Day sales trends show avocados among surprising products selling this year

Our reports show that BI readers are loving these 20 Prime Day products, including the Kindle Paperwhite, Apple AirPods, and...avocados?

Amazon Prime Day is running four days long this year, and with the expanded timeline is a chance to pick apart the data of what people are buying amid an uncertain economy. Like most publishers, we can see what products readers have purchased through our affiliate links, and this year's most popular deals offer an interesting mix of insights.

My first big takeaway is that people are gravitating toward products that are under $25, like this $13 mini fan that I personally love, or little beauty "treats" like $22 under-eye masks and $13 lip balm. Exactly half of the top 20 best-selling products among BI readers have clocked in at under $25.

Second, Apple and Amazon products continue to top the list of popular Prime Day deals. Some of these products, like the Apple AirPods and Kindle Paperwhite, are at their lowest price ever for Prime Day — and readers are smartly taking advantage of the deals.

Lastly, there are the wild card items, and this year, avocados seem to be a hot item? According to our data, Haas avocados were the 22nd best-selling item among BI readers in terms of quantity. I guess our readers really like guacamole.

I always like seeing what other people are buying, and if you do too, I've included the 20 best-selling products among BI readers below.
