Parents don’t want to call their children “Donald,” according to new Social Security Administration data. While President Donald Trump is known for branding everything with his name, American parents appear far less enthusiastic about passing it on. The data, reviewed by NOTUS, shows that the baby name “Donald” fell to its lowest point in U.S. history in 2025. The name peaked in 1934, when more than 30,400 American babies were named Donald, and it remained in the top 100 for decades before steadily dropping in popularity as Trump rose to national prominence. The name ranked No. 263 in 2004 during The Apprentice, fell to No. 415 in 2013 when Trump entered the WWE Hall of Fame, and slipped to No. 489 in 2016 during his first presidential victory. It briefly ticked up in 2017 before resuming its slide, losing more than 200 ranking places by 2025 and becoming the 690th most popular baby name. In Florida, Trump’s home state, just 21 newborn boys were named Donald last year.
