President Donald Trump’s handpicked senator has sparked mockery with a bizarre take on healthcare.
Darline Graham called universal healthcare a “bad idea” and cited her own personal experience to make the case against it—apparently oblivious to the glaring contradiction in her argument as she said her parents died when she was young because they could never go see a doctor.
“My parents worked long, hard hours to make ends meet,” she said to supporters after winning a Republican Senate runoff in South Carolina. “We didn’t take vacations. If they were sick, they had to get up and go to work because the doors weren’t open; we weren’t making money.”
