COLUMBIA, Missouri - Multiple vehicle pile-ups happened throughout the United States on Saturday due to the severe weather impacting the region.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reported numerous crashes popping up across the state as heavy snow continues.

One crash involved several semi-trucks in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 44 near Columbia, MO.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol posted on social media that numerous semi-trucks had jackknifed near Mile Marker 163.
Photos show at least three tractor-trailers involved in the crash. I-44 East was completely shut down for about two hours, but has since reopened.
Another crash occurred on Interstate 55 southbound near Marston, MO.
Video footage showed that several semi-trucks were involved, and one appeared to have sustained serious damage.
All traffic was at a complete standstill as the severe snow continued to reduce visibility.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation Central District, road conditions continue to worsen as a severe winter storm impacts the area.
Officials advise avoiding unnecessary travel and to stay alert on the roads if one must venture out.
Missouri isn't the only state facing numerous crashes. Louisiana State Police reported that the northern portion of the state saw icy roadways that created hazardous conditions.
Most of the U.S. is currently facing a high-impact and historic winter storm that is delivering heavy snow, freezing rain, sleet, crippling ice and days of life-threatening travel conditions.
The storm will stretch across a 2,300-mile path, covering more than 40 states from the Southwest into New England, delivering a blend of harsh winter weather impacts.
