PACIFIC, Wash. – The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Seattle issued a flash flood warning for part of southwestern King County early Tuesday morning, after the office said county officials reported that levees around the White River in the city of Pacific, Washington were failing.
The warning was issued shortly after 1:35 a.m. local time. The NWS said that emergency evacuation notices had also been issued.

The city has opened shelters for those displaced.
This comes after an earlier levee failure Monday afternoon along the Green River in Tukwilla, some 20 miles north of Pacific.
Repairs are being made to that levee after it failed during a Flash Flood Warning in King County, Washington, just days after historic flooding pounded the region.

The National Weather Service said a levee break in West Central King County prompted the warning in the west central Washington area. Repairs are now underway.
Officials reported the failure of the Green River Levee, which caused flash flooding near the Green River in Tukwilla. It happened just before 12 p.m. PST. The Flash Flood Warning was in effect through 9 p.m. PST Monday, but it expired early.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson said officials are working on repairs — which could take several hours — and no one was injured.

Some areas that experienced flash flooding include Kent, Renton and Tukwilla. Some streams and drainage systems were also impacted, including Green River, Duwamish Waterway and Cedar River, according to the National Weather Service.
The City of Kent said the levee along the Green River in Tukwilla breached, but the area is predominately industrial, and no residential neighborhoods are being affected at this time.
Anyone in a low-lying area should move to higher ground as soon as possible. In their notification, the National Weather Service said, "Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life."
The Washington National Guard said guard members are heading to King County to provide support.

The Washington Department of Transportation said State Route 104 is closed in both directions until further notice due to high winds.
The area was hit with devastating flooding just days ago. Another atmospheric river is expected to impact the area through Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds.
Last week's flooding resulted in numerous highway closures, evacuation orders for thousands of residents and dozens of emergency rescues throughout the area.
