Steve Witkoff, one of the Trump administration’s lead Russia-Ukraine negotiators, reportedly got “scared” about a scheduled trip to Kyiv this weekend.
Witkoff, 69, and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s 45-year-old son-in-law, will visit the Ukrainian capital to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sept. 6, the wartime leader confirmed to The Kyiv Independent. The two will arrive after a scheduled trip to Moscow on the 5th. Sunday’s meeting will be their first in Kyiv.
But Witkoff, amid the deadly back-and-forth strikes between the countries, “started to get scared,” a source told the publication, in effect putting the meeting in doubt.
