The youth yearn for steamy tennis dramas—and Jeremy Allen White has answered their call. Varietyreports that The Bear star is set to executive produce and lead an adaption of author André Aciman’s novel Enigma Variations for a Netflix limited series. Aciman is best known for his novel Call Me by Your Name, which was also adapted into a critically-acclaimed film by director Luca Guadagnino and starred Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer. In Enigma Variations, White is slated to play a bisexual man named Paul who meanders through a series of romantic flames throughout his life whether it’s “on a tennis court in Central Park” or “on a New York sidewalk in early spring,” per the novel’s description. If this synopsis feels at all familiar, it’s probably because Guadagnino also recently released another queer-coded “is the tennis court actually a symbol for something else” flick through his 2024 Zendaya-led film Challengers. Alongside White, Aciman is also anticipated to executive produce the new show.
