‘Irate’ Singer Arrested After Fight in New York City Club

“Bottoms Up” singer Trey Songz has appeared in court after being arrested for assault after allegedly punching a nightclub employee in the face, according to the New York Post. Songz, real name Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was involved in an incident on Dec. 4 at Dramma Night Club in Times Square, New York City. When he was told the club was about to close, the singer became “needlessly irate,” NYP reported, citing prosecutors at a court appearance on Sunday. They claimed the 41-year-old punched the worker in the face, causing “swelling and substantial pain.” Songz faced an additional charge of mischief in the second degree from an incident that took place on the same morning, but at a different location. The “Say Aah” singer’s attorney claimed Songz was confronted by individuals “who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.” Attorney Mitchell Schuster said the performer’s security attempted to contain the situation, which led to an “altercation.” “Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain,” Schuster said. He returns to court on Feb. 18.
