Iconic ’90s Rock Band Cancels Show at 11th Hour

The Goo Goo Dolls, whose iconic 1998 hit “Iris” has exploded in popularity on TikTok, canceled their Wednesday night performance in Ontario, Canada, just hours before they were scheduled to take the stage. The band shared on Instagram that the show’s cancellation is due to “illness,” though they did not state which band member is sick. Wednesday’s show marks the second consecutive cancellation during the band’s larger Canadian tour. “It pains us to announce that, due to illness, tonight’s show at the Communities Centre in Oshawa, has been canceled,” the band wrote in a statement, declaring that they still intend to perform at the Hamilton Colleseum on Thursday. “All tickets can be refunded at the place of purchase,” they continued. The Buffalo-based rock band burst onto the scene with their 1995 single “Name,” before they released their smash hit “Iris” three years later, earning them three Grammy nominations. The song has had a resurgence on TikTok, as part of a trend in which parents reveal to their children what they were like in the ’90s.
