Charges dropped against Colorado Springs police sergeant accused of victim intimidation

Sgt. Glenn Eric Thomas was suspected of victim intimidation, victim tampering and violating a protection order. The charges were dropped on July 28 and the case was sealed.

The case of a Colorado Springs Police sergeant accused of intimidating a 10-year-old witness was dismissed last week.

Prosecutors with the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office told Judge Michael Henry during a July 28 hearing that they did not have enough evidence to convict Sgt. Glenn Eric Thomas, according to reporting from the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Thomas was suspected of victim intimidation, victim tampering and violating a protection order. The charges were dropped Monday, July 28, and all documents related to the case were sealed.

“No such records regarding Mr. Thomas exist,” said Kate Singh, a spokesperson for the district attorney’s office, in an email to The Denver Post.

Singh declined to comment on why the charges were dropped.

Prosecutors said Thomas was not explicitly told he couldn’t speak to the child and was advised to do what he thought was best, according to the Gazette.

Thomas was being investigated for inappropriate sexual contact with a minor after the 10-year-old claimed he touched her while she appeared to be asleep at his home in August 2024. He went to the child’s school while under investigation and spoke to the 10-year-old with the principal present.

Thomas has worked at the Colorado Springs Police Department for more than 30 years.

The police department did not immediately respond Wednesday to questions about whether Thomas, who was on paid administrative leave during the investigation, has been reinstated.

As of Wednesday, the Peace Officer Standards and Training website lists Thomas as a certified law enforcement officer.
