Hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled at Denver International Airport on Friday as an arctic cold snap sent temperatures plunging well below freezing across Colorado's Front Range and Eastern Plains.

There were 404 flight delays and 27 flight cancellations as of 3:15 p.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.

Airport crews started deicing operations at DIA at 7 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration, but no ground stops or ground delays were active or expected as of Friday afternoon.

United Airlines reported the most delays at 146, followed by SkyWest at 116 and Southwest with 75. Southwest canceled 11 flights and SkyWest canceled 9 flights, according to FlightAware.

Thermometers at the airport could drop as low as 3 degrees Friday night and 6 degrees Saturday night, with temperatures not expected to rise above freezing until Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
