More than 800 flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport were delayed amid a snowstorm on Friday. A ground stop was in place because of snow and ice at the airport.
As of noon Friday, 808 flights had been delayed and 13 had been canceled, according to flight tracking software FlightAware. The ground delay is in effect until 7:59 p.m. was delaying departing flights by an average of 61 minutes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
About .25 inches of snow accumulated at DIA by 10:53 a.m. Friday, according to observation records from the National Weather Service.
Up to six inches of snow was expected throughout the metro area Friday and a winter storm warning is in place until 8 p.m. for the Denver area.
Southwest delayed the most flights at DIA on Friday at 380, followed by 194 United flights, 146 SkyWest flights, 37 Frontier flights, 18 Delta flights and 12 American Airlines flights, according to FlightAware. Eight other airlines delayed between one and four flights.
SkyWest canceled six flights, while Southwest, Frontier and American Airlines canceled two each and United canceled one.
