Jamie Lee Curtis, 67, has revealed that she is now a grandma. The Freaky Friday and Trading Places star told Michelle Obama’s podcast that her 39-year-old daughter, Annie, gave birth to a baby boy in December. While the little one is healthy, his birth was quickly followed by tragedy—his mother’s godparents, Rob and Michele Reiner, were murdered in their Los Angeles home just weeks later, allegedly by their troubled son, Nick. “My beautiful daughter, who loved them as we all did, managed to be able to metabolize that grief and sadness … [and then] brought their son into this world a week later,” Curtis told Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson’s show, IMO. “The truth is that the greatest lessons... the hardest days ever in my life have been being a parent, and now a grandparent.” Curtis has been keeping the news of the birth out of the public eye, but she got her daughter’s green light to tell the IMO podcast. Curtis said Annie asked her to tell the former first lady that “I love her,” and the actress was happy to oblige.
