Fraudster Whose Sentence Was Commuted by Trump Jailed for $35 Million Fraud

A fraudster freed by President Donald Trump in the dying moments of his first term has been convicted of fraud, again. Eliyahu “Eli” Weinstein, 51, of Lakewood, New Jersey, was sentenced to 37 years in prison. Weinstein was convicted on charges that he helped defraud dozens of investors out of $35 million. He was sent down in the state capital, Trenton, by U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp, who also told him to repay $44,294,803 in restitution immediately. It is his third fraud conviction, having previously been found guilty of a real estate Ponzi scheme and subsequent crimes committed during his pre-trial release the first time around. Just eight years into his 24-year sentence, Trump commuted his sentence to time served on Jan. 19, 2021. Also known as Mike Konig, this time he swindled investors by offering them the opportunity to profit from the shipment of vital supplies to Ukraine. The first time he was sent down was for juicing victims for $230 million.
